(MSPB) MERIT SYSTEMS PROTECTION BOARD LAWYER

The Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) is a federal government agency which is empowered to hear certain claims from federal employees relating to their employment. The MSPB has very narrow jurisdiction and may only hear limited cases. Some of the more common examples of cases that the MSPB may hear include:

OPM Disability Retirement
Appeals of decisions by OPM regarding disability retirement benefits and other benefits claims
Appeals of terminations
Appeals of suspensions greater than 14 days
Appeals of demotions

This list is not exhaustive and the MSPB is authorized to hear a number of different types of claims. In certain situations, the MSPB may also hear claims involving allegations of discrimination.

The MSPB process is often a difficult process to go through without adequate legal representation. Beginning with the deadlines to file your appeal, which are often within 30 days, and continuing through the pre-hearing phase and leading up to the hearing and decision, the MSPB process is often confusing and typically intimidating to those who are not experienced in this process.
